Insurance and Payment
Hearing testing is generally covered by health insurance companies, though the testing may be subject to a deductible or co-insurance.
For Medicare patients, diagnostic evaluations are covered if the evaluations are ordered by a physician for the purpose of assisting the physician in developing a treatment plan. Evaluations for "hearing loss" are not covered by Medicare.
The cost of hearing aids is not covered by most health insurance companies. Medicare does not cover hearing aids for adults.
Some nonprofit organizations provide financial assistance for hearing aids, while other organizations may provide used or refurbished aids.
